EU sheep and goat population in December 2007 and production forecasts for 2008 - Issue number 67/2008 - Products Statistics in Focus

The sheep and goat population in the EU-27 reached 108.9 million heads in December 2007, remaining relatively stable compared to 2006. Sheep and goat meat throughout 2007 was 1094 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 3% relative to 2006. In 2008, Sheep meat production is expected to decrease slightly while goat meat production is expected to increase.
