Patent applications to the EPO at national level - Issue number 3/2006 - Products Statistics in Focus

The patent applications to the European Patent Office (EPO) of the EU-25 in 2002 are mainly coming from a limited number of manufacturing activities. With regard to applications related to information and communication technologies (ICT) and high technology, Finland had the highest share of all national applications in the EU. Beside the patent applications to the EPO broken down by economic activities and by ICT classes, the publication also contains applications related to biotechnology and to the foreign ownership of patents.
