The System of Environmental-Economic Accounting 2012 – Experimental Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA – Experimental Ecosystem Accounting) is an important first step in the development of a statistical framework for ecosystem accounting. It provides a synthesis of the current knowledge in this area and a starting point for the development of ecosystem accounting at national and sub-national levels. The framework and associated accounts described in SEEA-Experimental Ecosystem Accounting are a complement to the conceptual framework and accounts presented in the international statistical standard for environmental-economic accounting – the SEEA-Central Framework.
