Poverty is not a game

Od 20/10 Komu 20/10

The European  Conference on serious gaming and poverty is organised within the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Year of Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.

The conference will take place on 20th October 2010, at Bibliothèque SOLVAY. High on the conference agenda is to look at and respond to the challenges and opportunities that gaming represents and raising awareness  by debating the usefulness and the extent of games being used in education to discuss complex societal issues as poverty. Keynote speakers Jane McGonical, from the Institute for the Future, California with the support of Flanders DC  and Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen, CEO, Serious Games Interactive (winner of BETT 2010) will show how, among other things, gaming can develop problem-solving abilities, tap into creativity, teach players how to make decisions and improve their command of languages.
