The European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, 2010 is a partner of the 2010 edition of the International LitCam Conference. It will take place at the Frankfurt Hof with “Literacy and Human Rights” as the principal theme. LitCam is an international campaign for literacy and basic education which was launched by the Frankfurt Book Fair and its partners, the German Federal Association for Literacy and Basic Education and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.

EY2010 ambassador Dr. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, will give a speech on the opening day of the conference outlining the crucial role that literacy and education play in ensuring an inclusive society.

On Friday 8th October there will a LitCam Live! Lunchtime event which will focus on the role that education has to play in reducing child poverty, and will feature contributions from Commission and local speakers
