REACT-EU: €285 million to support jobs, skills and social inclusion in France, Germany and Romania
The Commission has allocated a total of €285 million to the European Social Fund (ESF) Operational Programs (OPs) of France, Germany and Romania as recovery support for cohesion and territories of Europe (REACT-EU). The additional resources will help unemployed people find new jobs, strengthen education, employment and healthcare systems and help accelerate recovery from the pandemic crisis.

Commissioner Schmit at informal meeting of Employment and Social Policy Ministers
Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, took part in the informal meeting of employment and Social Policy Ministers in Bordeaux, under the French Presidency of the Council of the EU. The plenary session focused on the impact of the digital and green transitions on the European labour market, as well as on how these can positively contribute to a new European growth model.

ESF+ project in Belgium helps companies to improve cybersecurity
Flemish companies suffered several cyber-attacks in less than two years, which motivated them to look for a long-term solution. That’s why the Cybersecurity4SME project, led by the Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen (Howest) and co-funded by the European Social Fund, aims at improving cyber-defence mechanisms in small and medium-sized enterprises.

COVID-19: 4 millions d'euros au titre du Fonds européen d'ajustement à la mondialisation pour soutenir des travailleurs licenciés de Selecta en France
La Commission européenne propose aujourd'hui de soutenir 473 anciens travailleurs de la société de distributeurs automatiques Selecta, ayant perdu leur emploi en France en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, à hauteur de 4 millions d'euros provenant du Fonds européen d'ajustement à la mondialisation en faveur des travailleurs licenciés (FEM).

ESF+ project in Hungary helps unemployed people to find work and self-esteem
The project, funded by the European Social Fund, is targeted at people from Roma communities – particularly women – who face social prejudice and labour market discrimination. Delivered in 66 employment sites across the country, the project provides training for two roles: child and youth inspector; and social care provider and nurse. By helping people into work, the project also strengthens participants' sense of social inclusion.
