This year, the 16th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities will take place from 8 to 11 October 2018 in Brussels. Registration opens on the 4 July. During the week, representatives from the city and regional level will exchange good practices and know-how with experts and academics in the field of regional and urban development. Additionally, there is room for debates in relation to the development of EU Cohesion Policy, to underline the importance of regions and cities in urban policy making. Furthermore, there will be workshops and networking events.

Registration is still open for the Urban Development Network workshop on Integrated Sustainable Urban Development in the Baltic States, 28 and 29 June in Liepāja. The workshop is open to the cities of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania implementing sustainable urban development in accordance with Article 7 of Regulation 1301/2013 (ERDF) and to organisations active in urban development in these countries as well as to the Managing Authorities. Other cities may also participate upon request. Deadline to Register is the 18th June.
In 2018 the European Commission launched the European Sustainability Award to reward inspiring cases of initiatives that are turning the global Sustainable Development Goals into concrete solutions and opportunities. For this year's edition, the theme of the award is “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”. The competition is open to 4 stakeholder categories (Youth; Public bodies; Private bodies and Civil society). The deadline for applications is 14 September 2018.
The first capitalisation and dissemination activities of the Urban Innovative Actions Initiative will kick-start with a workshop on the topic of Jobs and Skills in the local economy on 22 June 2018 in the Ateliers des Tanneurs, Brussels, Belgium.
Registration is still open for the Urban Development Network workshop in Rome, Italy, on 12-13 June 2018. The workshop is open to (metropolitan) cities of Italy, implementing sustainable urban development in accordance with Article 7 of Regulation 1301/2013 (ERDF), as well as to Managing Authorities. Deadline to Register is the 4th June.
The 5 June at #EUSEW18, the Partnership on Energy Transition will host a workshop together with the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) initiative. During the workshop, the coordinating cities (Gdańsk, London and Roeselare) will present the state-of-play of the Partnership discussions and deliverables, including the Orientation Paper and the Action Plan, which is currently being developed by the partners.
The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW2018) will be organised from 4-8 June 2018 in Brussels. The week consists of the Policy Conference, networking events and an award competition. The Partnership on Energy Transition will organise a workshop.
The call for applications to become a member/coordinator of one of the two new Urban Agenda Partnerships, on Security in public spaces and on Culture and cultural heritage is open until the 15 July. All interested Member States, Partner States and Urban authorities, including regions, city consortiums and national city umbrella organisations can apply.
The Green Week 2018 will officially open on 21/5 in Utrecht (The Netherlands) and will close on 25/5 in Madrid (Spain). The high level EU Green Cities Summit will take place in Brussels, 22-24/5. The Partnership on Circular Economy has been invited to organize a session on “Cities needs in transition to a Circular Economy”. Many other events will be related to urban challenges and projects.

This year, the EWRC will take place from 8 to 11 October 2018 in Brussels. The online registration will open on 9 July. If you are interested to organise a workshop, you should apply before end of March.
