Oulu Boost Event 2019: Upscaling digital solutions in cities, 10–11 december 2019, Oulu

In the spirit of the Urban Agenda for the EU, the Finnish Presidency will work in partnership between the three levels, engaging European cities to a building of shared ideas on digital innovation, as well as linking different themes of the Agenda to each other. Oulu Boost Event 2019 brings together top-level decision makers and city officials from leading European cities to share insights on how cities are exploiting digital solutions in the process of digital transformation to serve their citizens in a user-centric and effective way.

 
High-level conference “Engaging citizens for good governance in Cohesion Policy”, 6 February, Brussels

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy is organising a conference on engaging citizens and civil society in Cohesion Policy. The conference will focus on how to ensure closer cooperation with citizens and civil society in the governance and implementation of Cohesion Policy and management of dedicated EU funds. Through a more active citizens’ engagement, institutions will become even more transparent and accountable, while investments will bring more and bigger results on the ground.

JPI Urban Europe AGORA Dialogue “Dilemmas of Public Space“

JPI Urban Europe organises this year’s AGORA Stakeholder Involvement Platform workshop on 20-21 Nov. in Riga.The workshop aims to elaborate critical issues regarding the development and maintenance of public spaces, including issues of inclusiveness, the right to the city or the consequences of climate change mitigation and adaptation. Contributions from Urban Agenda for the EU Partnerships will be much appreciated and help, among others, to prepare a future call for research and innovation projects.

 
UDN workshop: Sustainable investment in sustainable urban development. Preparing for the future in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania

The Urban Development Network is organising a one and a half day workshop on ‘Sustainable investment in sustainable urban development. Preparing for the future in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania’ to be held on 12 and 13 September 2019 in the Croatian city of Osijek in the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Osijek. The workshop is organised in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development and EU funds, the City of Osijek and the University of Osijek.

EU Sustainable Energy Week - 17-21 June - Brussels

The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It comprises of a 3-day Policy Conference, a Networking Village, an EU Sustainable Energy Awards competition with a public vote for the citizens' award, and Energy Days which are local events held across Europe throughout the months of May and June.

JPI Urban Europe 2019 Policy Conference: Urban Transitioning – A Joint Adventure

The 4th policy conference “Urban Transitioning: A joint adventure” will take place on the 12th of February in Brussels. At this event, JPI Urban Europe will launch its updated Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA 2.0). The conference welcomes all actors interested in sustainable urban transitions to engage in discussions and exchange on urban transitions.

 
2019 Forum "Cities and Regions for Development Cooperation: Local and regional partnerships for sustainable urban development"

The European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions are co-organising the Forum "Cities and Regions for Development Cooperation: Local and regional partnerships for sustainable urban development" (formerly called "Assises of Decentralised Cooperation") on 4 and 5 February 2019 in Brussels. The 2019 edition will focus on partnerships supporting sustainable urban development.

 
Housing for all: the final conference

Which legal and financial conditions are necessary in Europe to increase investment in affordable housing? Which benefits does affordable housing provide for European cities and the economy? Representatives of the EU institutions, politicians from different European cities, housing experts, housing providers, tenants’ representatives and scientists will discuss these questions comprehensively during the Conference. The findings of the EU Urban Agenda – Housing Partnership will be presented while the City of Vienna will offer study visits to present the Viennese model of social housing.
