The European Commission will together with the Mediterranean Coastal Foundation (MEDCOAST) organise a workshop centred on maritime spatial planning and integrated maritime policy. It takes place on 20 September 2016 in Dalyan (Turkey).

The first summit of the Blue Economy Business and Science Forum took place in Hamburg on 12-13 September 2016 at the International Maritime Museum Hamburg.
The Blue Economy Business Awards recognise and reward individuals or organisations who have made a specific contribution to bringing and developing innovation in the Blue Economy.
The “Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) Worldwide” conference will be held on 23 - 24 June 2016 at the University of the Azores, Ponta Delgada, Azores.

The event will highlight the progress made over the last years and further actions needed in developing a sustainable aquaculture sector in the EU.
In a high-level joint event with the Dutch Presidency of the Council on 24 May 2016, Commissioner Karmenu Vella presented progress made and obstacles that need to be addressed in further developing a sustainable aquaculture sector in the EU.
Mediterranean fish stocks keep declining. To reverse the trend and to bring more and more stocks towards sustainable levels, the EU is launching a new political campaign to be announced for the first time at the exhibition.
