Maximising the impact of EU research and innovation

Europe must step up investment in research and innovation in order to maximise impact, while also further refining the success story that is Horizon 2020, the EU research and innovation programme. CURE will cure asthma

Asthma has become a major health and economic burden in Europe affecting 30 million Europeans and one quarter of European children. Current therapies are limited to temporary improvements of the conditions of asthmatic patients but none tackle the underlying causes of the disease. There is no cure for asthma and so far no developments are recorded for new cures but what if this complex disease requires out-of-the box thinking?

 
Put your cybersecurity expertise on the map

The European Commission is conducting a mapping of the existing centres of expertise in the field of cybersecurity. The results of this mapping will be translated into a "Cybersecurity Atlas" that will be made publicly available. This Atlas aims to become a valuable tool and a reference for the cybersecurity community to look for potential partners and pool resources. EIT Community delivering significant impact for Europe and its citizens

A new study points to substantial successes in each of the EIT's key areas. The study, 'EIT: Our Impact from 2010 - 2016', analysed the global and European socio-economic impact of the EIT and its Innovation Communities between 2010 and 2016. With existing reviews mostly focusing on results and efficiency, the study sets out to look beyond those results and structure the achievements of the EIT Community in terms of impact.

Commission launches €2 million Horizon Prize in Social Innovation

The European Commission today launched a Horizon Prize in Social Innovation to improve the mobility of older people. The prize has a budget of €2 million and is funded under Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme. One prize of €1 million and four runner-up prizes of €250,000 each will be awarded to the most innovative mobility solutions that enable older citizens to continue to fully participate in social activities, maintain their autonomy and age healthily. Commission launches new Horizon 2020 Dashboard

The European Commission has launched a new online presentation of implementation data of Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme. The Horizon 2020 Dashboard is user-friendly but at the same time offers powerful new analytical functions that will inform programme reporting, impact analysis, feedback to policy-making as well as decisions on future priorities.

Their latest mobile app was presented at the 'eHealth Tallinn 2017' conference and offers opportunities for health professionals to detect subtle changes that neurologists cannot perceive in consultations.
