Eight of the top ten most innovative universities in Europe are EIT Community partners

Half of the 100 most innovative are EIT Community partners, including the top three: KU Leuven, Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge. Of the 100 universities in the list, 51 universities are EIT Community partners. How is the EIT involved with universities? The EIT’s Innovation Communities are partnerships that bring together businesses, research centres and universities; their partners include some of the biggest names in the world in these three areas.

 
Commission launches EIC Horizon Prize for Early Warning for Epidemics

The European Commission today launched a €5 million prize to find the best solution for setting up an early warning system for epidemics. It is one of six European Innovation Council (EIC) Horizon Prizes, which are part of the European Innovation Council pilot run under Horizon 2020, the EU's Research and Innovation Framework Programme.

 
EU and Argentina reinforce cooperation in marine research and innovation

The European Commission and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina signed today an administrative arrangement encouraging cooperation in marine research and innovation to tackle the challenges linked to the Atlantic Ocean, including ocean observation, food security, polar research and climate variability.

 
European Innovation Council pilot to support 257 SMEs with €13 million

The EU will support 257 small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) from 31 countries who aim to get their innovations faster to the market. The companies have been selected in the latest round of the SME Instrument, which is part of the recently launched European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot.

ORCHID will facilitate dialogue towards accelerating the development of prototypes of organs-on-chips (validated cell systems that mimic diseased or healthy human tissue), and the implementation of this technology by a broad group of potential users in science, health care and industry.

 
Apply now to become a member of the EIT Governing Board

The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) is an independent EU body based in Budapest that is strengthening Europe's ability to innovate. The EIT recently launched a call for expressions of interest for the selection of new members of the EIT Governing Board. The EIT Governing Board is entrusted with providing the strategic leadership of the EIT. Application deadline is 14 May 2018.

The EIC Pilot business coaching for FET Open SMEs takes off!

Interactive innovation in action – Multi-Actor projects learning from each other

The concept of “multi-actor approach”, a practical translation of the interactive innovation, has been introduced for the first time in the Horizon 2020 work programme 2014-2015 under the Societal challenge addressing agriculture and forestry. Since then, over 80 projects have been selected. The European Commission organised a workshop to trigger interaction and exchange of best practices between these projects’ coordinators and produce interesting recommendations for the future.
