Commissioner Moedas presents Horizon Europe to the largest science meeting on the continent

Today marks the beginning of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF2018) in Toulouse. This is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe that brings together over 4000 delegates from 80 countries. At this event Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, will deliver a keynote speech on Horizon Europe, the new EU research and innovation programme proposed for 2020-2027.

Commission publishes new, expanded Open science monitor

The European Commission released the Open science monitor, a radically expanded, updated version of this key scientific tool, which tracks key indicators in the fast-growing European open science movement. With the objective of providing data and insight needed to support the implementation of open science policies, the Monitor gathers the latest developments, drivers and impacts in the field. In addition, it draws on multiple indicators and rich case studies.

 
Commission proposes most ambitious Research and Innovation programme so far

For the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027, the Commission today proposed €100 billion for research and innovation. The new programme – Horizon Europe – will build on the achievements and success of the previous research and innovation programme (Horizon 2020) and keep the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation. Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever.

 
EU ministers endorse Commission’s plans for research cloud

Commission launches EIC Horizon Prize for Early Warning for Epidemics

The European Commission today launched a €5 million prize to find the best solution for setting up an early warning system for epidemics. It is one of six European Innovation Council (EIC) Horizon Prizes, which are part of the European Innovation Council pilot run under Horizon 2020, the EU's Research and Innovation Framework Programme.

 
EU and Argentina reinforce cooperation in marine research and innovation

The European Commission and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina signed today an administrative arrangement encouraging cooperation in marine research and innovation to tackle the challenges linked to the Atlantic Ocean, including ocean observation, food security, polar research and climate variability.

 
ORCHID: ORgan-on-CHip In Development

The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot provides continuous support for market-creating innovation. As part of the EIC pilot, 6 SMEs from the Future & Emerging Technologies (FET)-Open programme, managed by the Research Executive Agency (REA), have initiated the process of receiving each, a 12 days of business coaching.

 
Commission launches the 2018 European Capital of Innovation contest

Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, opened the 2018 European Capital of Innovation contest at the EU Covenant of Mayors Ceremony in the European Parliament. The winning city will be awarded a prize of €1 million to further promote and enhance its innovative actions. Applications can be submitted until 21 June 2018.
