he European Investment Bank today signed an agreement with the WindPlus consortium to provide a €60 million loan for installing a wind farm that will float in deep waters off the Portuguese coast. The loan will come from the InnovFin Energy Demonstration Projects facility (InnovFin EDP), which is funded under the EU’s research and innovation programme Horizon 2020.

The storage of energy at temperatures higher than 1000 °C using molten silicon-based alloys is the objective of the FET-Open project AMADEUS, which will create a new generation of extremely compact and lower cost energy storage devices.
EIT InnoEnergy supported start-up CorPower Ocean has recently announced an investment of 8.2M€ from the Swedish Energy Agency to commercialise the technology at full scale. After 18 months of testing and final verification of survival and power generation in Scotland, CorPower has indeed proven that its technology can produce electricity at a competitive cost.
