Common factor versus Baxter-King cycle in the euro-zone - Products Statistical working papers

A Factor Analysis is used to construct a cyclical coincident indicator for the Euro-zone from Business Survey data. This indicator, used by economists to assess the economic situation quickly, is compared to the cycle indicator constructed with a Baxter- King filter. The analysis is conducted for the Euro-zone Member States to highlight the cyclical synchronisation in the Euro-zone.
