The format option button is located on the upper right-hand side of the data display section of the Data Browser.

Clicking on 'Format options' will open a pop-up. Using the options displayed, you can customise many display features to get to the desired result. There are 2 kind of format options:

  • general options: these options apply to all the data display options (table, line, bar, map)
  • specific options: each data display option has specific formatting possibilities

These can be distinguished by their headings displayed in the pop-up

General options

Under this part, you will find the possibilities to change the flag display and the labels in the dataset.

Flags and labels

By default, flags are shown in the data displays. You can move the toggle to the right-hand side if you choose to hide all flags.

You can also decide you preferred way of labels for the dataset's dimensions.

The following options are listed:

  • labels (default): display the labels of the dimensions, such as the country names like Belgium
  • codes: display the codes of the dimension, such as the country codes like BE 
  • codes and labels: display both, such as BE - Belgium 
  • dimension specific: decide for each dimension which label option to be used. When selecting this option, further details are displayed for you to set your preferences for each dimension

When you are done, please either move on the the next tab in the left-side menu or click on the button 'Apply' located at the bottom right-hand side of the pop-up.

Separators

In this tab, you can decide on the following options:

  • decimal symbol: this is used to separate the integer part from the fractional part of the statistical values; available options are: dot (.) (default) and comma (,)
  • thousands symbol: this is used to separate each thousands group when displaying the statistical values; available options are: dot (.), comma (,), blank space (default), and none
  • data alignment: this is used to either align the data values to the right-hand side or to the left hand side by their decimal separator (default)

 Please note: The decimal symbol and the thousands symbol cannot be the same. If you choose the same symbols, the Data Browser will automatically change one of them.

When you are done, please either move on the the next tab in the left-side menu or click on the button 'Apply' located at the bottom right-hand side of the pop-up.
