Statistiken über die Beschäftigung im Sport zeigen, wie viele Menschen als Angestellte oder Selbstständige in diesem Sektor arbeiten. Anhand von zwei verschiedenen internationalen Klassifikationen können diese Statistiken geschätzt werden.
Eine davon ist die so genannte Vilnius-Definition (auf Englisch), die von der EU-Arbeitsgruppe für Sport und Wirtschaft erarbeitet wurde. Sie beschreibt den statistischen Umfang des Sportsektors, indem sie sportbezogene Wirtschaftstätigkeiten nach der Statistischen Systematik der Wirtschaftszweige (NACE) auflistet, unabhängig vom Beruf einer Person.
Die andere wird im Bericht zur ESSnet-Kultur (auf Englisch) beschrieben. Sie umfasst alle Personen, die gemäß der internationalen Standardklassifikation der Berufe (ISCO-08) in einem sportbezogenen Beruf arbeiten, unabhängig von der Wirtschaftstätigkeit.
Diese beiden Ansätze werden kombiniert, um die Gesamtbeschäftigung im Sport zu berechnen. Sie setzt sich sowohl aus den wirtschaftlichen Tätigkeiten als auch aus den Berufen zusammen, die unter dem Code 93.1 der NACE Rev. 2 (Erbringung von Dienstleistungen des Sports) und/oder dem ISCO-08-Code 342 (Fachkräfte im Bereich Sport und Fitness) erfasst sind.
Die Daten zur Beschäftigung im Sport stammen aus der EU-Arbeitskräfteerhebung. Sie liefert Informationen über den Erwerbsstatus der Beschäftigten und ihre soziodemografischen Merkmale wie Geschlecht, Alter und Bildungsniveau (zugeordnet gemäß der Internationalen Standardklassifikation für das Bildungswesen - ISCED, auf Englisch).
Es sei darauf hingewiesen, dass die Schätzungen für die Beschäftigung im Sportsektor auf einem „konservativen“ Ansatz beruhen, was bedeutet, dass einige Elemente der Beschäftigung im Sport nicht berücksichtigt werden. Dies liegt daran, dass sich die sportbezogene Komponente von Tätigkeiten und Berufen, die nur teilweise sportbezogen sind, nicht ohne Weiteres bestimmen lässt, weshalb sie nicht in die Schätzungen mit einfließen.
Überdies können sie nicht in die Sportbeschäftigungsstatistik aufgenommen werden, da keine Informationen über sportbezogene Nebentätigkeiten vorliegen. Nur die Haupttätigkeit der befragten Personen wird berücksichtigt.
Einige Daten über im Sportsektor tätige Unternehmen stammen aus den strukturellen Unternehmensstatistiken (SUS) und der Unternehmensdemografie (business demography – BD). Zusätzlich zu diesen Wirtschaftsindikatoren über Sportunternehmen liefern Daten aus der Produktion von Industriegütern (Prodcom) Informationen über den Wert (in Euro) der verkauften Produktion von Sportartikeln.
Aus der SUS liegen Indikatoren wie die Zahl der Unternehmen, die Bruttowertschöpfung oder der Umsatz für Unternehmen vor, die in der NACE-Gruppe 93.1 (Erbringung von Dienstleistungen des Sports), der NACE-Klasse 85.51 (Erziehung und Unterricht in Sport und Freizeit) und der NACE-Gruppe 32.3 (Herstellung von Sportartikeln) tätig sind.
Die Daten der Unternehmensdemografie enthalten Demografiestatistiken, zum Beispiel Unternehmensgründungsraten und Unternehmensfortbestandsraten für marktorientierte, im Sektor „Sport, Unterhaltung und Erholung“ tätige Unternehmen, was dem NACE-Code R93 entspricht.
Die Daten von Prodcom geben Aufschluss über das Volumen der industriellen Produktion sowie den Wert der verkauften Produktion dieser Unternehmen im nationalen Hoheitsgebiet während des Berichtszeitraums. Prodcom-Statistiken beziehen sich auf Produkte, nicht auf NACE-Wirtschaftszweige, und sind daher nicht direkt mit tätigkeitsbezogenen Statistiken wie der SUS vergleichbar.
Die Statistiken über den internationalen Handel mit Sportartikeln messen den Wert in Euro der zwischen den EU-Ländern (Intra-EU-Handel) sowie zwischen EU-Ländern und Nicht-EU-Ländern (Extra-EU-Handel) für Sportartikel ausgetauscht wird. Somit geben diese Statistiken einen Überblick über den Stellenwert von Sportartikeln im internationalen Handel und vermitteln eine Vorstellung davon, wie sich die Sportindustrie auf die Wirtschaft auswirkt.
Die Daten stammen aus der internationalen Warenhandelsstatistik, die Handelsstatistiken für die EU, die EFTA und die potenziellen EU-Mitglieder enthält.
Sportbezogene Artikel im internationalen Handel werden nach der Klassifikation der Harmonisierten Systeme (HS) (auf Englisch) erfasst.
Sie sind nach Sportarten oder bestimmten Arten von Sportausrüstungen und -zubehör gruppiert. Die folgenden Indikatoren sind für den Import und Export von Sportartikeln für ausgewählte Partnerländer oder geoökonomische Gebiete verfügbar:
- Handelswert in Tausend Euro
- Anteil am gesamten nationalen Handel
- Anteil am gesamten EU-Handel
- Anteil am gesamten Sporthandel
Statistiken über die Beteiligung am Sport helfen, die direkte und indirekte Teilnahme der Menschen an sportlichen Aktivitäten zu messen. Gegenwärtig liefern sie Daten über:
- das Sport treiben im Sinne von körperlicher Betätigung
- Besuche von Live-Sportveranstaltungen
- Sportangebote in den Städten, beispielsweise Anzahl der Schwimmbäder und Zufriedenheit der Ortsansässigen mit den Sportanlagen
Europäische Gesundheitsumfrage
Die jüngsten Daten zu sportlichen Betätigungen und zu nicht-arbeitsbezogenen körperlichen Aktivitäten stammen aus der letzten Erhebungsrunde des Moduls zur körperlichen Aktivität der Europäischen Gesundheitsumfrage (European Health Interview Survey – EHIS). Sie wurde in den EU-Ländern etwa 2019 durchgeführt. Die EHIS-Erhebung liefert Statistiken über:
- Ausübung von Sport, Fitness oder körperliche Betätigung in der Freizeit (sogenannte aerobe Sportarten) wie Nordic Walking, zügiges Gehen, Ballspiele, Joggen, Radfahren, Schwimmen, Aerobic, Rudern und Badminton
- Muskelkräftigung (zum Beispiel Widerstandstraining) – also Übungen, die speziell zur Verbesserung oder Erhaltung der Kraft in den großen Muskelgruppen (Beine, Rücken, Schultern, Arme usw.) durchgeführt werden
- Pendeln zu Fuß
- Pendeln mit dem Fahrrad
Die Verteilung der sich körperlich betätigenden Bevölkerung ist für verschiedene Aufschlüsselungsvariablen verfügbar, darunter Alter, Geschlecht, Bildungsniveau, Einkommensquantil und Verstädterungsgrad.
EU-Statistiken über Einkommen und Lebensbedingungen
Die Daten zum Besuch von Live-Sportveranstaltungen stammen aus den Ad-hoc-Modulen der EU-Statistik über Einkommen und Lebensbedingungen (EU Statistics on Income and Living Conditions – EU-SILC) zur sozialen und kulturellen Beteiligung, die in der gesamten EU sowie in einigen Ländern der Europäischen Freihandelsassoziation (European Free Trade Association – EFTA) und den Kandidatenländern durchgeführt werden. Sie beziehen sich auf Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer von Live-Sportveranstaltungen in den Jahren 2006 und 2015, wobei das Verfolgen von Sportveranstaltungen auf dem Fernsehbildschirm nicht berücksichtigt wurde.
Ab 2022 werden Informationen über die Teilnahme an kulturellen oder sportlichen Aktivitäten in das alle sechs Jahre stattfindende Modul „Lebensqualität“ aufgenommen. Die im Rahmen des Moduls 2022 erhobenen Daten werden voraussichtlich Ende 2023 veröffentlicht.
In beiden Erhebungen wird die Häufigkeit des Besuchs von Live-Sportveranstaltungen nach Alter, Geschlecht und Bildung aufgeschlüsselt. EU-SILC liefert außerdem weitere soziale Merkmale, darunter Haushaltstyp, Einkommensquintil und Verstädterungsgrad.
Andere Quellen
Daten über sportliche Betätigungen und Aktivitäten im Freien, in Bezug auf die dafür aufgewendete Zeit im Laufe eines Tages, sind aus den Wellen 2000 und 2010 der Zeitverwendungserhebung.
Die Daten der Welle 2020 werden voraussichtlich im Jahr 2024 veröffentlicht.
Die Städtestatistiken im Bereich Sport geben Aufschluss über die Anzahl der öffentlichen Schwimmbäder, während die Meinungsumfragen zur Wahrnehmung helfen, die Zufriedenheit der Einwohnerschaft im Hinblick auf die Sporteinrichtungen der Städte zu bewerten.
Diese Daten beziehen sich auf die Ausgaben der Haushalte für Sportartikel und -dienstleistungen. Die daraus gewonnenen Statistiken geben einen Überblick über die Konsummuster der Haushalte und bewerten das Gewicht der privaten Ausgaben für Sportartikel im Verhältnis zu den Gesamtausgaben der Haushalte. Ab 2010 werden die Daten aus den alle fünf Jahre stattfindenden Erhebungen über die Wirtschaftsrechnungen der privaten Haushalte (Household Budget Survey – HBS) zusammengestellt.
Da die privaten Ausgaben unter anderem durch das Preisniveau beeinflusst werden, können die Daten über die privaten Ausgaben für Sportartikel und -dienstleistungen durch statistische Informationen über die Harmonisierten Verbraucherpreisindizes (HVPI) für Sportartikel und -dienstleistungen ergänzt werden.
Der Zweck der HVPI-Statistiken besteht darin, zu beurteilen, wie sich die Preise der von den privaten Haushalten erworbenen Konsumgüter und Dienstleistungen im Laufe der Zeit verändert haben.
Die Europäische Klassifikation des individuellen Verbrauchs nach Verwendungszwecken (auf Englisch, European Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose – ECOICOP) wird für die Erstellung des HVPI verwendet, entsprechend den fünfstelligen Kategorien.
