Celebrate ten years of the euro with the Eurocompetition!

The Eurocompetition (www.eurocompetition.net), an online poster design competition for school children between 10 and 14 years of age living in the euro area and Slovakia to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the European Union's Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the euro, is now open!

Article created on 15.09.2008

The project is being managed by European Schoolnet on behalf of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs.

Young people from the euro area and Slovakia are invited to join in the euro's 10-year celebrations by designing a poster on the theme "10 years of EMU and the euro" and uploading it to the online gallery at www.eurocompetition.net.

The posters should express the participants’ thoughts on what the euro has done for European citizens, what the benefits of the monetary union are and what they think the future holds for the single currency.

The competition is open from 15 September until 31 December 2008. An expert jury will select 16 national winners, who will each be awarded with a digital camera and the chance to have their poster printed and displayed by the European Commission at an exhibition in Brussels. From these 16 an overall winner will be selected. A special prize – yet to be unveiled – will be awarded.

Visitors to the Eurocompetition website can also receive the Euro Kid’s Corner poster, a promotional poster available in the 12 languages of the euro area and Slovakia.
