Half of the 100 most innovative are EIT Community partners, including the top three: KU Leuven, Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge. Of the 100 universities in the list, 51 universities are EIT Community partners. How is the EIT involved with universities? The EIT’s Innovation Communities are partnerships that bring together businesses, research centres and universities; their partners include some of the biggest names in the world in these three areas.

Bulgaria, Sofia, 18 April 2018 – innovators in Bulgaria are set for new innovation cooperation opportunities. These are being discussed today during an Awareness Day in Sofia, organised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in the Sofia Tech Park.

The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) is an independent EU body based in Budapest that is strengthening Europe's ability to innovate. The EIT recently launched a call for expressions of interest for the selection of new members of the EIT Governing Board. The EIT Governing Board is entrusted with providing the strategic leadership of the EIT. Application deadline is 14 May 2018.

The EIT Information Day was held for the 2018 Call for Proposals for two new Innovation Communities, EIT Urban Mobility and EIT Manufacturing. The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) has launched a competition for new innovation communities in the areas of urban mobility (EIT Urban Mobility) and added value manufacturing (EIT Manufacturing). The winners will join Europe’s largest innovation community to bring solutions to European citizens.

The European Commission is conducting a mapping of the existing centres of expertise in the field of cybersecurity. The results of this mapping will be translated into a "Cybersecurity Atlas" that will be made publicly available. This Atlas aims to become a valuable tool and a reference for the cybersecurity community to look for potential partners and pool resources. A new study points to substantial successes in each of the EIT's key areas. The study, 'EIT: Our Impact from 2010 - 2016', analysed the global and European socio-economic impact of the EIT and its Innovation Communities between 2010 and 2016. With existing reviews mostly focusing on results and efficiency, the study sets out to look beyond those results and structure the achievements of the EIT Community in terms of impact.

Today, the EIT has published the Framework of Guidance for the EIT’s 2018 Call for Proposals.
