The purpose of the study is to analyse the impacts of the growth of global e-commerce for postal service, the impacts of the current system of Universal Postal Union (UPU) remuneration, especially for e-commerce items on the market for postal services, and the impacts of possible changes to the international product mix, as introduced by UPU.

Today, the European Parliament adopted the Commission proposal to make prices for cross-border parcel delivery services more transparent and affordable, and to increase regulatory oversight of the EU parcel market.
On 7 March the European Commission held a workshop on developments in the postal sector, linked to 2 studies being carried out on this theme. The presentations are now available.
