World IP Day: Grow your SME with intellectual property

Today is the annual World Intellectual Property Day. This year the focus is on the role that intellectual property (IP) rights can play in helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow stronger, more competitive businesses. We look at the situation and challenges for SMEs, share video testimonials by some companies that have integrated IP into their business strategy, and explain some of the support available to your small business.

 
Intellectual property: new advice service for SMEs launched

Today we are launching the ‘Horizon Intellectual Property (IP) Scan’ service. This tailored, first-line and free IP support service is designed to help European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to efficiently manage and valorise IP in collaborative research and innovation efforts.

 
ESCALAR kicks off: First project signed with Swedish equity fund eEquity

The first investment under the ‘European Scale-up Action for Risk capital' (ESCALAR) pilot programme has been signed. It concerns the fourth fund of Stockholm-based eEquity, a digital growth equity investor, which will support scale-ups and high-growth SMEs and small mid-caps in several EU countries, with a focus on Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

The SME Assembly, which is centred around the governance structure of the small business act, takes place every year during SME week and is Europe’s most significant event for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Organised with the German Presidency of the EU, this year’s edition takes place online and presents the winners of the European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) and the Small and Mid-Cap Awards.

 
Call for proposals: Clusters Go International

The main objective of 'Clusters Go International' is to intensify cluster and business network collaboration across borders and sectorial boundaries, and to support the establishment of 'European Strategic Cluster Partnerships' to lead international cluster cooperation in fields of strategic interest in non-EU countries.
