Gambling
The study evaluates the effectiveness of regulatory tools employed by authorities in European Economic Area (EEA) countries to enforce online gambling rules and channel consumer demand towards authorised gambling.
The study will look at the various solutions adopted to address the problem of proliferation of gambling websites which are accessed by millions of citizens, but remain outside of the Member State authorities' control, the operators being unauthorised in the relevant Member State and many of them also located outside the European Economic Area.
The study collected information on the technical requirements for online gambling services' authorisations across EU and EEA Member States. The results are gathered in a 'dynamic matrix database' which identifies and describes the legal technical requirements in individual EU and EEA Member States.
Policy preparation at the European Commission is supported by both retrospective evaluations and forward-looking impact assessments.
This study identified and evaluated differing systems of grassroots sports funding across the EU, including the importance of funding sources such as gambling and media revenue. The impact of certain regulations on grassroots sports funding was also analysed.
This study provides a detailed analysis of the legal regimes governing gambling in the EU’s internal market. It also attempts to give indications on the economic development of the sector.
This study identifies the ways in which EU countries authorise and supervise online gambling, and the ways in which they enforce national rules.
