Stakeholders were invited to a 1-day workshop hosted by the European Commission. It was an opportunity to provide input to the ongoing study on user needs in the postal sector and the evaluation of the postal services directive.

The aims of this study are

The workshop started with an introduction by the European Commission, followed by a presentation by WIK-Consult and discussion of first study findings, based on the surveys and interviews undertaken so far.

After that, the objectives of the workshop were

  • to obtain input from stakeholders on future user needs
  • to obtain input from stakeholders for the assessment of the postal services directive or selected elements of the directive

Attendees were able to exchange views on these important developments and on the way forward. This information gathering was done in the form of panel debates, moderated by WIK-Consult, and allowed active public participation.

The Commission also provided some updates on ongoing files.
