In 2008 the Commission launched the EU Raw Materials Initiative. The Commission is now preparing a new Communication which will not only report on progress made with the implementation of this initiative, but also indicate the way forward.

A debate on Europe's competitiveness and potential policy levers was initiated at the 2nd High-level Conference on Industrial Competitiveness on 26 April in Brussels.
The Commission is assisted by a contractor in the task to carry out a review to assess whether or not to amend the scope of REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).
[p]In 2010, a Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Technical Textiles and Innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean Region took place. The main objective of the conference were to enhance the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in research and innovation in technical textiles.[/p]
[p]In 2009, a Euro-Mediterranean Workshop on "Textile and Clothing - Capacity Building of Social Partners in the Euro-Mediterranean Region" took place within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue on the future of the textile and clothing industry.[/p]
This is the final conference of a pan-European large-scale pilot action financed by the Enterprise and Industry DG under the Small Business Act for Europe and the eBSN initiative. This is the first in a series of large-scale actions to help SMEs implement eBusiness and thus participate in global digital supply chains in different industry and services sectors.
