National Event in Moldova: Harmonisation of the National Legal Framework for Fisheries and Aquaculture with EU legislation and standards

The first national event in Moldova was held online and brought together approximately 40 participants including researchers, experts, national authorities and academia. Organised as a joint regional stakeholder event between Moldova and Romania, this gathering allowed Moldova (as EU candidate country) to benefit from Romania’s expertise in fisheries and aquaculture policies.

 
The Black Sea CMA Stakeholder Conference Report is now available!

The main outcomes of the Black Sea CMA Stakeholder Conference ( 22-23 November 2023) are published. The conference attracted over 200 stakeholders from all over the region and beyond to exchange and discuss joint action on a sustainable blue economy in the Black Sea.

 
Unlocking Solutions for Black Sea Sustainability: A Collaborative Endeavor

Romania closed 2023 with their second “CMA in my country” event in Constanta. Participants engaged in a concerted effort to address the challenges facing the Black Sea blue economy by 2030. The primary focus of this gathering was to discuss strategies for reducing marine pollution, promoting sustainable blue growth, and fostering a circular blue economy. The event, structured into sessions, aimed to identify innovative and impactful solutions for the sustainable utilization of the Black Sea and its coastal resources.

 
Exploring Blue Horizons: Unleashing Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Georgia's Blue Tourism

Batumi played host to a dynamic in-person event entitled "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Georgian Blue Economy: Innovative Project Ideas for the Development of Blue Economy in Georgia." The event aimed to support local stakeholders and inspire the generation of innovative concepts to boost Georgia's blue economy, and fuel innovations, focusing on underwater cultural heritage, small-scale cruising, and circular fishery.

 
Dive into the European MSP Platform's new Multi-Use Compendium!

The European MSP Platform is shortly about to launch their new Multi-Use Compendium. This initiative is a response to the growing volume of discussions and interest on the topic of multi-use. It represents an evolution from the heavily used 'Sectors and Conflicts' Pages on the MSP Platform. Tailored for Member States’ Planners and MSP Practitioners, the compendium aims to consolidate information from diverse sources, offering a comprehensive view of the opportunities, challenges, and enablers associated with the integration of various maritime economic activities at sea. Look out for its launch later this month!

 
Commission adopts the AI@EC Communication

The Communication on Artificial Intelligence in the European Commission (AI@EC) covers how we plan to develop and use AI ethically and effectively and to support staff in boosting their AI skills, sharing ideas and accessing advice. Adopted on 24 January, it also proposes AI governance structures to fulfil the obligations of the Commission in relation to AI.

 
Delors memorial ceremony

A ceremony honouring the life and legacy of former Commission President Jacques Delors will take place on Wednesday 31 January at 17:00 in the Berlaymont press room, in the presence of several EU leaders and high-profile public figures. CEF Energy celebrates the successful completion of the works for the Enhancement of Latvia-Lithuania Interconnection

The closing event of the project ‘Enhancement of Latvia - Lithuania Interconnection’, funded by CEF Energy with over EUR 5 million took place on 25 February. The event marked the culmination of the construction works aiming to enhance the capacity of the gas transmission pipelines between the two countries, to ensure energy security of supply and foster stability in the region.

Visit of DG MOVE to CINEA and WiN coffee

The Director General (DG) of DG MOVE, Magda Kopczynska, visited the Agency on 17 January to learn more about our transport project portfolio and to meet with staff working in this sector. The visit was also the occasion for the CINEA WiN Network to organise an informal coffee with the Director-General and CINEA Director where they both shared examples from their respective careers and discussed challenges and achievements.
