Vacancy at the UNESCO Institute for Statistics - European Statistical System (ESS)
The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has supported and contributed to the implementation of the Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) standard since its inception. The UIS has established data provision agreements with multiple partners including the World Bank Group and UNITED NATIONS Statistics Division. The UIS has also collaborated with OECD and Eurostat in the establishment of shared DSDs and concept schemes in the domains of Education statistics and Science (Research and Development statistics). The UIS has successfully migrated its Education and R&D data collections to being fully SDMX-compliant and is in the process of transitioning it's remaining data collections by the end of 2015.
In order to further improve statistical operations, the UIS is looking to advance and deepen the adoption of SDMX throughout the entire data lifecycle within the UIS as well as with partners who may be collaborating on shared collections, providing national or international data, or consumers of UIS data, the UIS is establishing a dedicated position to focus exclusively on the implementation of SDMX within the UIS and to extend the adoption of SDMX amongst partners.
This position is located within the UIS organisational structure pertaining to cross-cutting statistical activities responsible for UIS-wide standards, methods, processes, and systems for the collection, production, and dissemination of international statistics.
Deadline for application: 9 November 2014.
