The May 2021 edition of the newsletter includes information on the call for applications for private sector organisations to join the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste for its second mandate (2022-2026), as well as new food waste data, educational materials, food loss and waste prevention initiatives in the dairy value chain, the online repository with fish food loss and waste-related resources developed by the Food and Agriculture Organisation, and many more. A call for applications for private sector organisations with expertise and proven track record in food waste prevention to re-establish, together with public entities, the European Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste has already opened and will run until 23 July 2021

Food waste measurement webinar for Member States – 9 July 2021

The webinar will focus on concrete examples of national food waste monitoring, while the Commission will also update participants on food waste measurement activities at EU level

Adoption of the Single Market Programme

Food waste prevention will be addressed in the context of the work programme implementing the specific objective of contributing to a high level of health for humans, animals and plants along the food chain and in related areas

Adoption of the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2021-22

R&I opportunities in the area of food systems, and more specifically for food loss and waste prevention and reduction, are offered through Cluster 6 on ‘Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment’
