On 16 June 2021, the Commission published the Horizon Europe main work programme for the period 2021-22 (related press release).

Access to information on available R&I funding opportunities (e.g. legislation, call documents, guidance documents, deadlines, templates) can be found through the EU Funding and Tenders portal. First calls for proposals opened on 22 June.

R&I opportunities in the area of food systems, and more specifically for food loss and waste prevention and reduction, are offered through Cluster 6 on ‘Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment’ (‘annex 9’).

The EU Research and Innovation Days, held on 23 and 24 June 2021, offered an opportunity to learn about the new Horizon Europe and its activities. More information on this online event is available at European Research and Innovation Days.
