Discover actions carried out by French agricultural cooperatives

Today, we have to feed 8 billion people around the world, while the proportion of French citizens living below the poverty line is only growing. That’s the reason why it is important that everyone thinks about the actions they can take to avoid food waste.

Agricultural cooperatives have implemented multiple initiatives to respond to this issue. In the publication ‘Cooperatives and the food waste fight’, developed by La Coopération Agricole (a member of COPA COGECA), readers are invited to discover a small part of the many initiatives carried out by a number of French agricultural cooperatives, which have always sought to promote and valorise agricultural products. Most of the initiatives included in the publication are still ongoing.

Fruits & Vegetables Production Operation of ADEME

La Coopération Agricole is a member of the Fruits & Vegetables Production Operation (2019-2021), initiated by the French Agency for ecological transition (ADEME). One of the goals of this initiative is to conduct diagnosis on fruits and vegetables lost during production and harvesting. La Coopération Agricole has been running the first food waste analyses, which will inform an action plan to reduce food losses. The results of this operation will be published in September 2021.
