Raw Materials University Day - 1 October 2017 in Belgium

On 1 October, ‘Raw materials university day’ takes place at KU Leuven in Leuven, Belgium. The event will focus on the innovations of the Department of Materials Engineering in sustainable materials for electronics, mobility, construction and its groundbreaking research in the circular economy.

Participants can take part in many presentations, workshops, games and discussions. These showcase the role of materials in our everyday lives while also giving tips on how individuals can contribute to a sustainable and circular economy. KU Leuven researchers will put the spotlight on new innovations, including but not limited to

  • ultra-light materials for suitcases 
  • safer bike helmets
  • efficient and recyclable batteries
  • smart prostheses
  • sustainable cement made from waste
