On 20 January 2015, the European Commission organised a conference to discuss the state of play and possible future for the Points of Single Contact.

The Points of Single Contact (PSC) are a very visible and concrete innovation of the Services Directive (2006/123/EC).

They bring the benefits of e-government to entrepreneurs, providing them with comprehensive information on applicable requirements and allowing them to complete administrative procedures online. This can be in their own country or in any other EU country. The PSCs simplify the setting up and expansion of businesses in the Single Market.

PSCs are now up and running in all EU countries. However, they are not living up to their full potential. The Commission has agreed with EU countries on a PSC Charter that sets out criteria for well-functioning and business-friendly PSC portals.

The conference aimed to take stock of the PSCs (including their compliance with the PSC Charter) and to look, in collaboration with business representatives and EU countries, at the possible future of the PSCs.
