Applications open for European hackathon dedicated to solving the most pressing smart health challenges

The new ‘Data 4 Healthy Recovery’ hackathon, taking place from 18 – 20 June, aims to find smart health solutions to help Europe recover from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger and faster, using industrial transformation opportunities in a creative way.

date:  08/03/2021

We’re looking for visionaries, developers, designers, data scientists, marketing specialists, engineers, entrepreneurs and industry experts to take part. Apply as an individual or team until 15 April 2021.

Participants from across Europe and countries participating in the Commission’s COSME programme are eligible.

The hackathon will take place in hybrid form in Brussels and online. It was first announced during EU Industry Days 2021, which served as a platform to discuss how industrial transformation and post-COVID recovery both offer the chance to rethink economic and social models through innovative solutions and tools.

The hackathon, with its emphasis on smart health solutions, should help European companies and organisations reshape their business models, products and processes and, at the same time, create new business opportunities.

Maive Rute, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs said, “The Hackathon is a great way to find innovative and practical solutions to address the COVID crisis that could support the social and economic recovery. At the same time, the hackathon can help to boost the competitiveness of small and bigger businesses in Europe and modernise the value chains that will serve our societies.”

The organising team are currently mapping out the most relevant and pressing challenges for European industry in the field of smart health and fine-tuning them with industry experts.
