All companies, trade associations and public authorities willing to share the vision and actively contribute to the work of the Alliance can sign the declaration.

Stakeholders can register for the event now.

The programme of the event is published online. Commissioner Bieńkowska will open the event and First Vice-President Timmermans will give the closing address.

The Commission announced the launch of the Circular Plastics Alliance on 11 December 2018 with the support of First Vice-President Frans Timmermans and Vice-President Jyrki Katainen.

The Alliance’s aim is to boost plastics recycling in the EU. The Alliance gathers key actors of the plastics value chains. The Alliance will take voluntary action to reach the target that 10 million tonnes of recycled plastics find their way into products in 2025. In 2016, less than 4 million tonnes of recycled plastics were used in products in the EU.

The creation of the Alliance follows up on the EU campaign for voluntary pledges, which led 70 companies and trade associations to commit to produce or use more recycled plastics in the EU.
