The date for the official launch of the Level(s) initiative is fast approaching. The European Commission has been working tirelessly to perfect this framework for sustainable buildings by incorporating feedback received over the last months. Together with the results from the Level(s) test phase and the feedback received at the conference which took place in Brussels in February, this also includes the contributions made to the Consultation “Level(s) – A common EU framework of core sustainability indicators”.

In early March, the Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance (TEG) published the final report on the EU taxonomy of green economic activities.
As the Covid-19 public health crisis unfolds across the world, the threats of climate crisis and biodiversity loss are becoming ever more prescient. Both the crisis and countries’ abilities to handle its most immediate effects have demonstrated that the current economic order based on the strong disregard for nature and the climate are unsustainable in the long run. As the European Union, Member State governments, and companies prepare their recovery strategies, there is an opportunity for a stronger commitment to a new green, sustainable economy to emerge from the crisis. While the EU B@B Platform is preparing its re-launch (stay tuned!), many of our activities and that of our partners are continuing and being adapted to the new online needs. The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership – together with Kering and the Conservation Hierarchy Team – has published a primer for the fashion industry on how to develop a biodiversity strategy, that EU B@B considers worth reading and inspiring for many other sectors.
The training materials can be adapted and used free of charge during seminars, workshops or conferences, and are available in different lengths – one hour, two hours, half a day, full day. The available materials include facilitator agenda, workbooks, slide decks, speaking notes and group discussion activities. Make sure to also check out their online events – virtual office hours and roundtables that allow businesses to discuss and pose questions.
