The biotech sector in China is booming. With supportive government policies towards biotech development and a massive patient base, China presents a relevant opportunity for smaller European companies looking to scale up and access new revenue streams. To explore the specificities of this sector, this webinar serves as an online workshop to help European SMEs in the process of assessing their opportunities. Taking place on 13 June 2024, it will be hosted by the China IP SME Helpdesk, the EU SME Centre, Genopole, and Cisema.

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation is organising an awareness raising campaign on knowledge valorisation to disseminate the latest policy developments on knowledge valorisation and to demonstrate how research and innovation results can be better transformed into societal and economic benefits. The next flagship event will take place in Zagreb, Croatia. In a dedicated session, European IP Helpdesk will present the overview on the services supporting the Code of practice on the management of intellectual assets for knowledge valorisation.

As intellectual property (IP) assets are constantly growing, they should be used effectively. Accumulated IP assets can be the armour that protects a company from competitors in the market, but also a powerful weapon to initiate attacks. In this online session, European IP Helpdesk expert, Dr Christian Hackl, will reflect on different facets of the IP assement process. Typically involving a systematic and scientific examination and evaluation of IP resources, it also allows companies to determine whether their IP is adequately protected and whether it currently provides a competitive advantage or might be used as such in the future.

In collaborative projects, it is common for multiple partners to contribute to the creation of copyright works. As a result, it is important to clearly establish and agree upon issues related to ownership, management, protection, and exploitation strategies. This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of copyright and offer guidance on how to effectively manage it within the context of collaborative projects.

Therefore, many companies seek to secure their freedom to operate (FTO) at an early stage. This training session provides an overview of different FTO types as well as special aspects of the FTO analysis.

Joining forces with the European Patent Office (EPO), we have organised a new training concept which comprises three consecutive sessions assessing technologies and patents. The sessions are specifically designed for research and development project leaders, entre- and intrapreneurs, intellectual capital managers in small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups and technology transfer offices as well as investors. Participants are invited to attend all three sessions and apply the methodology presented to their own products and services.

ISH China & CIHE - China International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Sanitation & Home Comfort System will take place from 11 – 13 May 2024 at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall) in Beijing.

The trade fair SIAL Shanghai will be held in the Shanghai New International Expo Center from May 28th to 30th, 2024.

The 25th edition of IE expo China will take place from April 18 to April 20 2024 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre(SNIEC).

The 89th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) will take place from April 11th to April 14th in the National Exhibition and Convention Center(Shanghai).

In this webinar, we will address the specific challenges that EU-funded projects should consider while using or developing Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), particularly knowledge management and protection, exploitation, and maximising impact.
