What if you had to decide what can be called “chocolate”?

As the festive season approaches, chocolate may find its way into our homes with its indulgent flavours. But chocolate can vary widely in composition, depending on where it’s produced. So what if you had to decide what can be called “chocolate”? Invite your secondary pupils to debate, negotiate and define Europe’s sweetest piece of legislation – the Chocolate Directive – with our role-play game. As members of different EU institutions, they will discover how rules are made, how compromises take shape, and how even a simple chocolate bar can spark major political questions.

 
Discover children’s recommendations on how to stop cyberbullying

Last September, the European Commission called children and teens to fill in an online survey on cyberbullying. Over 6,300 children aged 12-17 from across the EU shared their views. Discover their ideas, their calls for action, and what schools can do to make the internet a safer place for everyone.

A Child-Friendly Survey on Poverty and Social Inclusion

How fair is life for children across Europe? The European Union wants to know from the children themselves. Through this new child-friendly survey on poverty and social inclusion, every young person in Europe can share their experience and ideas and help shape a fairer Europe for all. Open until 8 December 2025 in all EU languages. Children, teachers, and youth organisations are encouraged to take part and spread the word, because every voice counts when building a more inclusive Europe.

 
Piece by Piece: discover EU’s map and language

Do you want to learn about Europe while having fun? The EU Puzzle lets children explore the countries and languages of the European Union in a playful way. In the easy mode, players recognise and place each EU country on the map; in the difficult mode, they match the word “hello” in 24 languages with the correct country. Bright visuals, friendly animal guides, and lively animations make this interactive puzzle a favourite for classrooms and families alike. You can also print a giant map of Europe to colour in and bring geography lessons to life.

State of the European Union 2025

The State of the Union (SOTEU) address is an annual speech by the President of the European Commission to the European Parliament, setting her priorities for the Union for the year ahead. This address makes great topical content for classroom discussions about the European Union and its future and can serve as an important part of a broader lesson on Europe. Juvenes Translatores: on the lookout for the young talent of translation

The annual EU-wide translation contest invites secondary school students born in 2008 to showcase their language skills and creativity as they translate between any of the 24 official EU languages. Every year since 2007, over 3000 teenagers have a go at being a translator for a day. The 27 winning students — one per EU member state — will win a 3-day trip to Brussels in March 2026! Mark your calendars: registrations are open until 14 October

 
School Calendar

This school year, help students stay safe online and thrive offline with the European Commission’s 2025–2026 Calendar. Each month explores a digital safety theme, from cybersecurity to digital rights, while supporting students in balancing their obligations. The calendar also features key global and EU observance days and is available in all EU languages.
