2024 European Maritime Day (EMD): leading progress on the sustainable blue economy

On 30-31 May, the European Maritime Day attracted more than 1,100 maritime stakeholders in Svendborg (Denmark). CINEA organised four sessions on energy transition in fisheries, green transport, blue careers and fishers of the future. The EU Stand promoted 16 projects from most of the EU programmes managed by the Agency. The icing on the cake was the celebration of the 10 years of EMFF/EMFAF with our Director Paloma Aba Garrote and DG MARE Director-General Charlina Vitcheva, along with EMFAF stakeholders.

On 21 May, we celebrated 32 years of the LIFE Programme and Natura 2000 Day. Many LIFE projects joined our celebrations on social media using the hashtag #Lifeis32.

 
EU4Algae Social Media Campaign

To promote awareness of algae to consumers, EU4Algae launched a Social Media campaign in May on DG MARE and CINEA’s platforms for viewers/consumers to get creative in the kitchen and share their culinary creations featuring this nutritious superfood.

Check out the repository designed to catalogue EU projects related to algae. With over 800 entries, easily searchable using keywords, it aims to act as a valuable resource for industry stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers in the algae sector.

EU4Algae is an information hub for the algae sector. In this section, we highlight recently published reports/papers of interest for the EU4Algae members, available in the Knowledge Library section on our website.
