2023 Staff survey: Detailed results & follow-up

The detailed CINEA results of the 2023 Staff Survey were presented in an all staff assembly earlier this week. To address the results, an action plan will be prepared and submitted to the Commission by September. For this purpose, a Working Group consisting of both staff and management representatives will be set up. If you have ideas and you are willing to get involved, contact CINEA-STAFF-COMMITTEE@ec.europa.eu by 28 June.

 
CINEA at the 11th EU Agencies Football Tournament

This year edition of tournament, organised by FRONTEX, took place in Warsaw, Poland on 22-23 June. It gathered 34 EU agencies and the Parliament and had male and mixed tournaments of outdoor seven-a-side matches. Six CINEA players joined forces with REA for the mixed tournament (out of 7 players in the pitch, at least 3 women). Congratulations to the REA-CINEA team ended up 5th of the 15 participating teams!

 
CINEA @ the Mini-Atomiade

On 14-16 June CINEA representatives travelled to northern Italy to take part in the 2024 Mini-Atomiade, organised by DG JRC in ISPRA. The Atomiade (and its corresponding winter edition) is the biennial olympic games of the EU's research organisations. This was the first time CINEA participated in an Atomiade, with a small but very competitive representation that gave everything in the quest for a medal (and brought back a bronze one in the volleyball tournament).

 
Call for 2024 CINEA Ekiden runners!

The fun relay marathon for teams of 6 runners in and around the King Baudouin Stadium is taking place on 19 October. Ekiden teams consist of six runners, who run the marathon distance of 42.195 km. CINEA has already taken part in past years with several teams and we would like to continue this tradition. Interested in joining CINEA's team? Click on the link below for more information.

 
Cyber summer tips

While your holiday packing list may already spot some sunscreen, we are here to remind you that not every threat is physical. But do not fret! To help you feel at ease this summer tips. If you would like to know more about cyber security or improving the way we work together, you can enrol in one of course of the summer school with sessions starting in July.

 
'Speed dating' session on offshore renewable energy

CINEA colleagues participated in a pilot 'speed dating' session on Offshore Renewables (ORE)', organised by the Task Force on synergies and crosscutting feedback as a bottom-up initiative. Its purpose was to facilitate informal knowledge sharing and experience exchange, aiming to encourage collaboration and networking across programmes within the Agency.

 
CINEA at the Energy Infrastructure Forum

CINEA colleagues have participated in the discussions on the challenges of modernising Europe’s energy infrastructure in Copenhagen. They have also seized the occasion to celebrate the signature of the grant agreement with the CEF Energy supported project Gabreta Smart Grids.

 
The interplay of climate, migration, and socioeconomic factors in Africa and Asia

How are changes in the climate and environment influencing how people perceive the "habitability" of where they live and their decisions about migration? Project HABITABLE released a series of videos featuring different characters living in fragile contexts in various African and Asian countries and how their lives develop in the years up to 2030 and 2050.

 
Value of the month: Trust

June is dedicated to Trust, defined in the CINEA Staff Core values as 'We rely on each other and establish genuine relationships while engaging in an open dialogue'. Supporting Ukrainian cities in sustainable reconstruction

Funded under the Horizon Europe call to associate Ukrainian cities to the #MissionCities, two sister projects, U_CAN and SUN4Ukraine managed by CINEA, will work together to assist Ukrainian cities in aligning their reconstruction plans with ambitious climate neutrality goals. The two projects came together this week at the first joint cluster meeting hosted by CINEA.

Reflections and Outcomes from the European Blue Forum Annual Meeting

18 cleantech projects to receive EUR 173 million in EU funding

The Innovation Fund, financed through the EU Emissions Trading System, will support 15 projects selected under the third small-scale call and 3 projects selected under the third large-scale call for proposals. These projects have a great potential to contribute to Europe’s decarbonisation and clean energy transition.

 
Grant agreements signed for eight awarded projects under the PCI 2023 Call

Following the 2023 call for proposals for Studies & Works for Projects of Common Interest, CINEA has signed Grant Agreements with all eight projects that were awarded EU funding under the Connecting Europe Facility Energy programme. This is a significant milestone for these projects to advance in their implementation.

 
The LIFE Programme celebrated its #LIFEis32 anniversary

Since 1992, the LIFE Programme has co-financed more than 6 000 projects across the EU and supported the conservation of more than 6 000 sites within the Natura 2000 network. The European Commission has increased the LIFE budget to EUR 5.4 billion for 2021 to 2027. We celebrated the #LIFEis32 anniversary on 21 May and spread the word with our ready-to-go social media toolkit.
