New calls published under Horizon Europe and EMFAF

Several new calls are now published under Horizon Europe: EUR 163.5 million is available to fund green, smart, and resilient transport and mobility research projects, EUR 17.8 million - for projects under the Transforming neighbourhoods, making them beautiful, sustainable and inclusive (New European Bauhaus) call, over EUR 230 million - under the Adaptation to Climate Change and Restore our oceans and water calls. EUR 2.5 million are also available under the EMFAF call for proposals for Maritime Spatial Planning for the North Seas. Check the details at the link below.

 
Discover the EU-funded projects putting the green into waterborne transport

A new CORDIS Synergy Info Pack highlights how projects coming from different countries, sectors and funding programmes are all working towards the same shared goal: making Europe’s waterborne transport sector more sustainable, more efficient, and more competitive. It includes 13 projects funded under various EU programmes, including Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, LIFE, CEF Transport, EMFF and the Innovation Fund.

First PCIs/PMIs list data available on Transparency Platform managed by CINEA

CINEA has updated the Transparency Platform with all the new data coming from the first Union list of Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs). The list was adopted by the European Commission in November 2023. It includes PCIs, which are projects within the EU territory and, for the first time, also PMIs, which connect the EU with other countries.

 
CONFER: Co-production of Climate Services for East Africa

HORIZON 2020 project CONFER, works on better understanding and preparing for climate change impacts in Africa. In its latest policy paper, the project concludes that flood events are among the most devastating, quick-onset disasters in East Africa. With climate change, there is an increase in extreme weather resulting in flash and riverine floods.

CINEA often receives external requests for visits and information sessions at its premises, from stakeholders wanting to learn more about the Agency and its programmes. To streamline the organisation of these visits, a common approach across the Agency has been adopted to tackle the requests.

Walking challenge: over 2,000 colleagues stepped up to the plate

This year, the ever-popular interinstitutional walking challenge was held in April as a refreshing springtime event. The final statistics are now in, and 2,119 colleagues walked the walk, collectively taking 482.3 million steps and covering approximately 344,500 kilometres. Well done to all CINEA walkers who contributed to these impressive achievements!

 
European elections: Commission steps up fight against disinformation

With the European elections getting closer, and foreign interference and manipulation a constant concern, the Commission is stepping up the fight to raise awareness and counter disinformation with a series of new actions. CINEA at the EU Open Day 2024 in Brussels

Another highly successful EU Open Day took place on Saturday 4 May, with the Commission welcoming visitors to the Berlaymont. The visit route followed six villages, each aligning with the six EC priorities. CINEA participated in the "Our Sustainable Future" village, alongside two of our projects selected to showcase their activities - Plastic Pirates (Horizon Europe) and EU4Ocean (EMFAF).
