Zurück EU non-household electricity and gas prices

The average price for electricity for non-household consumers in the European Union (EU), calculated excluding VAT and other recoverable taxes and levies, was around €11.5 per 100 kWh in the second half of 2018. It has increased around 2.8% on average between the second half of 2017 and the second half of 2018 and about 13.2% over the last decade.

On average, in the EU, non-household natural gas prices, excluding VAT and other recoverable taxes and levies, grew to €3.1 per 100 kWh (+ 11.0%) between the second halves of 2017 and 2018. Contrary to electricity prices, the price of non-household natural gas fell by 20.4% over the last decade.

In the second half of 2018, non-recoverable taxes and levies accounted for close to one third (30.0%) of the electricity price charged to non-households and around one tenth (10.9%) of the natural gas price.

Across the EU Member States, in the last six months of 2018 non-household electricity prices ranged from around €7.1 per 100 kWh in Finland and €7.2 in Czechia to €15.2 in Germany and more than €18.1 per 100 kWh in Cyprus.

Among Member States, non-household natural gas prices in the second half of 2018 ranged from a minimum of €2.5 per 100 kWh in Belgium to around €4.8 in Sweden and a maximum of €5.9 per 100 kWh in Finland. Prices in all other countries are ranging from €2.7 to €3.9 per 100 kWh.

Electricity prices refer to prices for a non-household consumer with an annual consumption within the range of 500MWh < consumption < 2000MWh. Natural gas prices refer to prices for a non-household consumer with an annual consumption within the range of 2778MWh < consumption < 27778MWh. The selected bands are the most representative of the population of the EU as most consumers in EU fall into these bands.
