Zurück Mammography most frequent in Luxembourg and Portugal

Logo Statistics ExplainedIn the EU in 2014, 38% of women aged 50 to 69 reported that they had an X-ray breast examination – a mammography – within the past year, while 11% had never had such an examination.

Among the Member States, over half the women in the 50 - 69 age group in Luxembourg and Portugal (both 52%) had a mammography in the past year, followed by 49% in Finland and 48% in Spain. On the other hand, 2 % of women in this age group in Romania and 16 % in Bulgaria underwent such an examination in the past year.

The share for those who had never had a mammography varied from 1 % in Finland and 3 % in Sweden to 35 % in Bulgaria and 79 % in Romania.
