Member States meet for third progress Accelerator event driving forward #OnceOnly

14 June 2024 | 3 minutes read

On 13-14 June 2024, representatives from 22 EU Member States met during a hybrid Accelerator event, which – as the name suggests – helps participating countries make maximum progress in implementing the Once-Only Technical System before the summer.

The Once-Only Technical System saves EU citizens and businesses time and money by allowing the automatic exchange of official documents and data (such as diplomas, certifications or permits) between the ‘competent authorities’ that issue this data and the public body requesting the data. This automatic data exchange puts users in charge of their data and reduces the costs involved when completing cross-border administration within the European Single Market.

This Accelerator consisted of two tracks, a “demo” track, where Member States presented their work so far, issues encountered and plans for the future. A parallel “readiness checks” track allowed the participating teams to test their Once-Only Implementations. Nils McGrath (Evidence Mapping subgroup and UX Lab lead in DG DIGIT) managed the demo track, while Maarten Daniels (Testing and Deployment subgroup lead in DG DIGIT) managed the testing track.

A dedicated Support team was also present to help the national teams with technical issues.

During the demonstration track, several Member States presented their progress so far by sharing live or video demos with Finland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Portugal and Spain presenting. These demonstrations allow the participating national teams the chance to see each other’s work, ask questions and be inspired by others.
