Throughout 2024, EU Member States and the Commission have focused on engaging national Competent Authorities to facilitate their connection to the Once-Only Technical System. A central aspect for fostering engagement is the organisation of events that bring together representatives of Competent Authorities with experts from the Member States, the Commission, and relevant cross-border organisations. Many such events have already taken place in 2024, and these efforts will continue in Q3 and Q4 of the year. Find out what is in stock in the upcoming months in the overview below, both at national and European level.

8 - 9 October
Europe goes Once-Only – Finland edition
On-site (Helsinki, Finland) 8 - 9 October Registration: until 6 September 2024
This event is organised by the Finnish KEHA-Centre with support of the Commission. It aims to intensify the ongoing work to onboard national Competent Authorities to the Once-Only Technical System.
This event will consist of expert presentations with examples of progress of Once-Only in the Nordic/Baltic region and best practices in onboarding Competent Authorities. Competent Authorities connecting to the OOTS, notably those in the population, education, vehicles and businesses domains, stand to benefit most from this event. It is also open for SDG national coordinators and team leaders responsible for implementing the Once-Only Technical system in their Member State.
Please note that the event takes place only on-site and will not involve any testing. Rather, the event will be a key format for sharing best practices and discussing the way forward for onboarding Competent Authorities through workshops, panel discussions and speeches. Regardless of the events’ focus areas, Competent Authorities from all domains and geographical regions are warmly invited to join. We encourage you to promote this event in your Member State.
22 October

20 – 22 November
Projectathon #5
Hybrid 20 – 22 November Registrations are open from 24 September – 15 October
On 20-22 November 2024, the Commission is organising the fifth Once-Only Technical System Projectathon in Brussels. This hackathon-style event will allow different systems to connect under one roof and perform a marathon of peer-to-peer interoperability and compliance tests in a structured environment for several days.
The engagement of Competent Authorities remains key to advance the Once-Only Technical System. The main priority for all is to ensure that Evidence Providers are connected to the system, register their Evidence Types in the Common Services, and enable them for exchange.
The November 2024 Projectathon will be a thematic event with a focus on vehicle registries, business-related procedures, population and education domains, targeting this specific set of Competent Authorities. Population and education have been thematic focus domains of the May 2024 Projectathon and will be re-included to ensure that progress is made in these domains.
Representatives of Competent Authorities and Member State teams implementing the Once-Only Technical System are warmly invited to join this event. Please note that this Projectathon will include elements of the Accelerator event that had been foreseen for autumn 2024. Therefore, the November Projectathon will be the only testing event taking place in the second half of 2024.
