The European Commission is proud to announce the 27 finalists for the 2024 edition of the Natura 2000 Award. The selected finalists are from Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.
The European Commission is proud to present the class of 2024: 96 applications from 25 European countries, across the five Award categories!

The 2024 edition applicants have invested their time and resources in restoring connectivity in rivers, green corridors and flyways, among other habitats, anti-erosion activities, and species reintroductions. There are a particularly high number of actions tackling terrestrial and marine invasive alien species, as well as initiatives aimed at removing barriers to migratory fish, fencing initiatives to protect livestock, pest control, and approaches addressing the impacts of rural depopulation.
The evaluation process (24/10/2023)
All applications are currently being assessed by a team of independent evaluators.
The deadline for applications to the 2024 edition of the European Natura 2000 Award has been extended! Applications for all categories will now be accepted until 23:59 CET, 12 October 2023.

The European Natura 2000 Award rewards excellence in the management of Natura 2000 sites and showcases the network’s added value of conserving nature for local communities and economies across the European Union.
One stand-out benefit to winning the Natura 2000 Award is the support provided by the European Commission to each winner to organise an event dedicated to celebrating their win.

The Commission is happy to receive applications from anyone involved in the management of actions linked to the Natura 2000 network. This includes public authorities and NGOs, as well as businesses, educational establishments, hunters’ associations, landowners, etc.
