Do you buy medicines on-line?
24 June 2014 - Have you ever been tempted to buy medicines on-line? If so, did you wonder whether the on-line pharmacy or retailer of medicines was operating legally or whether the medicines you are buying are safe and fit for purpose?
As part of its policy against falsified medicines, the Commission has designed a logo that, at the latest from mid-2015, will appear on the pages of on-line pharmacies and retailers of medicines legally operating in the EU.
Commission publishes encouraging second round of EU-wide test results for horse meat DNA in beef products: measures to fight food fraud are working
On 24 July 2014, the Commission published the results of a second round of coordinated pan-European testing for horse meat DNA in beef products was launched in April this year. This testing was a follow-up to the exercise carried out in 2013 in the wake of the horse meat crisis, where 4.6% of products tested positive.
This second round of testing was requested and co-financed by the Commission. The findings are encouraging as they show that the situation has significantly improved, with only 0.61% of samples testing positive.
