Relations with media

Media programmes

DG REGIO organizes events on Cohesion Policy in the Member States and in Brussels. Media organisations are sometimes invited to cover these events, with the organiser often covering travel and accommodation costs. Such events include the EU Regions Week, macro-regional strategies fora, the Cohesion Forum or the CITIES Forum.

If you are interesting in participating in a media programme you may email REGIO-A2-COMMUNICATION@ec.europa.eu.

Partnerships with media

Smart Regions

Smart Regions, in collaboration with Euronews, takes a tour of Europe, visiting the cities and towns where Cohesion Policy projects are reducing regional disparities and bringing real, tangible benefits to communities across the EU.

Calls for proposals promoting Cohesion Policy

With five calls for proposals entitled “Support for information measures relating to the EU Cohesion policy” and published respectively in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, the Commission has sought several beneficiaries (including media) for the implementation of information measures promoting EU Cohesion policy. The EU reimburses up to 80% of the total costs of the actions, with grants up to EUR 300.000.

The main aim is to provide support for the production and dissemination of information and content linked to EU Cohesion policy, while respecting complete editorial independence of those involved.

Examples of communication actions implemented by beneficiaries in the past can be found in our interactive map
