EU funding for Promotion of agricultural products in 2024

The next calls for proposals will open on 18 January 2024, with an available budget of €176.4 million. Stay tuned for the Info Days!

For the upcoming 2024 AGRIP calls for proposals, the Info Days will take place on 31 January, from 13:30 to 17:00 and on 1 February, from 8:30 to 14:00. This will be a hybrid event taking place both online and onsite, in Brussels. The Info Days will include presentations and specific technical briefings on the 2024 calls for proposals for interested stakeholders. Registration will be available beginning of January. Final joint conference: CALIPER and LeTSGEPs projects

In a final event held in Brussels on 23 November 2023 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Horizon 2020 projects – CALIPER and LeTSGEPs – have gathered over 60 researchers, policy makers, innovation leaders, human resources and gender equality practitioners. Participants had the opportunity to learn and share best practices and materials, while reflecting on how to address the challenges to achieving long-term, inclusive and sustainable institutional change.

 
Looking back: Conference on Research Careers 2023

Between 21-22 November 2023, the Conference on Research Careers took place, focusing on R&I and their critical role in addressing Europe’s societal challenges. With researchers playing a pivotal role in shaping Europe’s future, the European Commission, under the new European Research Area policy, is intensifying efforts to make research careers more attractive, rewarding, and stable. Contributing to the event’s agenda, RESAVER, EURAXESS, HRS4R and ACTION 4 debated on shaping a more promising and stable future for research careers in Europe.

 
Donate Water: an initiative under the Crowd4SDG project

The EU-funded Crowd4SDG project successfully managed to sustain project activities by embedding them in new collaborations and projects, such as the YOMA project funded by UNICEF. One of their recent initiatives is DonateWater, developed to collect Citizen Science data sets on water sources in Nigeria.

 
Make it Open (MiO) project is rethinking education to spur student motivation

MiO helped to establish open schooling “hubs” in 10 European countries ranging from Sweden to Greece, bringing together more than 150 schools. The project aims to promote science education in schools by bringing together experts in maker education with enterprises and civil society organisations, offering both students and teachers access to new resources and lessons.

 
Recap: The Universities Alliances – Cross-Alliances Forum 2023

The Science with and for Society Cross-Alliances Forum took place on 30 November – 1 December, gathering close to 300 representatives of 33 European Universities alliances in Brussels, celebrating the success of their projects. They showcased good practices of institutional change in ERA priorities like mainstreaming open science, strengthening research careers, reinforcing knowledge valorisation, and engaging citizens and society.

 
New European Bauhaus Festival

The second edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival will take place in April 2024. It aims to bring together innovators, creators, scientists, people, and collectives from all walks of life, contributing to building a future that is sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful. The programme will span four days with various activities planned, including satellite events – apply by 31 December!

 
European Research Area 2024 Knowledge Day and Brokerage Event

Following the WIDERA Knowledge Day and Brokerage Event that happened last month, post-event registration and long-term on-line networking is enabled until 29 February 2024. You can apply, use the matchmaking tool, and exchange messages on the online marketplace with fellow applicants and experts.

 
Building trust in science for peace and development

How can science be applied to conflict resolution? In what way can novel research contribute to inclusivity? Citizen Science: an essential ally for sustainable cities

Calling for Citizen Science Ambassadors

The EU-funded and REA-managed EU-Citizen.Science project launched a call for citizen science ambassadors in Austria, Estonia, Germany, Slovakia, and Sweden. If you have experience in citizen science or related areas such as public engagement, participatory research or open science, you can enrol by 16 January 2024.

EU Award for Gender Equality Champions

Aiming to recognise and celebrate the outstanding results achieved through the implementation of Gender Equality Plans, the award is open to universities, higher education institutions, and other research performing organisations (public or private), established in an EU country or a country associated to Horizon Europe. There are 3 prize categories, each worth €100,000. You can apply by 25 January 2024 (17:00 CET).

New grant agreements signed

17 grant agreements were signed in 2023 under the Horizon Europe - Reforming and Enhancing the European R&I System programme. With a budget of €35 million in EU funding, the selected research projects cover topics such as open science, ethics, foresight, research careers, research assessment, citizen science, research valorisation and gender. €25 million available in EU funding for the Reforming and Enhancing the European R&I system call

Prioritising investments and reforms, improving access to excellence and deepening the EU Research Area, the new call for proposals is open for applications until 12 March 2024. The topics include: collaboration between R&I policymakers, researchers' skills, the uptake of research results, open science, gender equality and AI.
