Organic Farm Knowledge is the winner of the UN Digital Excellence in Agriculture title, in category 2: Capacity development and empowerment. The Organic Farm knowledge is an online platform promoting knowledge exchange among organic farmers and advisor, offering scientifically validated and accessible agricultural knowledge.
The project Hydrousa has received the Prima WEFE Nexus award. The prize rewards research teams successfully implementing combined management practices of water, food, energy and ecosystems resources in the Mediterranean. Earlier this year, Hydrousa’s circular business models in water scarce areas received the Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Awards, in the category of ecosystems preservation & nature-based solutions.
An old cement factory transformed into ‘La Fábrika de toda la vida’, an inclusive & participatory cultural space in Badajoz, wins the New European Bauhaus Award. The winner is an Observatory Case supported by Horizon 2020 project Open Heritage, which is managed by REA.
This year, the workshop focused on Environmental Observations-based solutions to support the European Green Deal in the areas of agriculture, biodiversity, climate, disasters prevention, forests protection, and water management. The recordings and presentations are now published.
On 15 October, seven Horizon 2020-funded projects, managed by REA, were showcased at the Farm to Fork session dedicated to research. They are funded under the Horizon 2020 EU Green Deal call to tackle some of the food systems challenges as part of the EU Farm to Fork strategy.

The LASIG-TWIN project twinned Romanian researchers with colleagues from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to investigate the potential benefits of laser ignition techniques. Designed for the combustion engine, laser ignition is an eco-friendly alternative to spark ignition that could make vehicles - as well as factories, power stations, and space transportation - more energy efficient. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen visited two Centres of Excellence as part of her tour of European capitals. At the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre in Cyprus and the Baltic Biomaterials Centre in Latvia von der Leyen met with researchers, observed their research in action and examined the EU-funded facilities.

A large number of proposals were submitted for the first calls of Horizon Europe - Teaming for Excellence (Stage 1) and Horizon Europe - Twinning for Western Balkans. The deadline for submissions was on the 5th of October.
