To know if citizen science is successful, measure it

Measuring Citizen Science has never been an easy task for any scientific researcher. It has also even harder for citizen science projects, which do not follow traditional methods. The good news is that now, EU researchers are building the first integrated and interactive platform, including 200 variables, to measure costs and benefits of citizen science.

What’s in store for Europe’s tree species?

Scientists supported by the EU-funded FORGENIUS project have presented a new data set showing current and potential future distributions of European tree species. Called EU-Trees4F, the data set provides a detailed model on how the ranges of 67 tree species will change between now and 2095. It will help to improve data currently available for the conservation of genetic diversity of tree species in Europe’s forests.
