Celebrating aquaculture in Spain, first EU Member State to implement the #FARMEDintheEU campaign

Next week aquaculture will be under the spotlights in Spain, in the framework of the Día de la Acuicultura celebrated every 30 November. This year is special as the Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente (MAPAMA) launched last September the campaign "Di sí a la acuicultura sostenible".

date:  24/11/2016

In this context, Spain is the first EU Member State implementing the #FARMEDintheEU schoolkit and it is not a coincidence as Spain is number one in terms of jobs, with 20.000 producers out of 85.000, and is also leader in terms of research.

The #CRIADOenlaUE school project involved hundreds of students who met dozens of producers and scientists, in all comunidads.

The best projects by teenagers, in addition to best drawings by schoolchildren, will be rewarded in a joint event organised by the Fundación Biodiversidad (Observatorio Español de Acuicultura (OESA)) and the European Commission.

Top representatives of the sector will also discuss how best communicate about aquaculture.

The event will take place at the Museo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (MUNCYT), Madrid on Monday 28.
