On 29 January, our Ediburgh conference on regional cooperation in the North Sea brought together over 170 participants from all sectors and all North Sea countries. Industry representatives, NGOs, researchers and national authorities at various levels discuss how to better cooperate in order to address energy and spatial planning challenges at sea basin level.

The main message from panelists and participants was an overwhelming call for a more structured dialogue between sectors. They underlined the need for serious commitment at political level to North Sea cooperation in order to identify clear responsibilities and overcome the first-mover risk.
